Based in Portland and Los Angeles, Elizabeth Francis Frakes, also known as Eliza Frakes, is a performer, writer, and filmmaker for the stage. Her mother, Genie Francis, is most recognized for her appearances as Genevieve Atkinson on “The Young and the Restless,” Diana Colville on “Days of Our Lives,” and Laura Spencer on “General Hospital.”

On the other side, Frakes’ father, Jonathan, is well-known for playing Commander William Riker in the TV show Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as numerous motion pictures and television shows. Eliza was very involved in the English and Theatre departments during her time in college. She also finished an independent study that was approved by both departments, which allowed her to create a play and a pilot.

Later on, her initial pilot won the Wild Sound Festival’s student division.

She also received the Departmental Distinction Award in acting during her time in college.

Frakes enrolled in the Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble’s acting program. She learned everything there, from Shakespeare to inventing. She also worked as an RA/TA at Portland, Oregon’s Fir Acres Writing Workshop.

Following her graduation from the Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble, Eliza began her career as an instructor and lived and worked across the nation in writers’ rooms, theaters, sets, and other venues.

She was a remote script covering writer for Fuzzy Door Productions while she was living in Los Angeles. Mash in Stupid F*$king Bird, Tabby in Cuddles, Lily in Waterlily, and Sarah in the short film Murky are just a few of Frake’s theater credits.

Elizabeth Francis Frakes Taught Yoga and Wrote a Children’s Book.

Elizabeth, then sixteen, authored a children’s book titled I Don’t Want To Play Princess while she was a student at Viewpoint School. She was inspired to write the novel by her childhood summertime playtime on Lake Megunticook in Maine.

Frakes had obtained her certification as a yoga instructor while attending Viewpoint and had previously instructed kids from low-income households in the art of yoga. In addition, Frakes has written some poetry, some of which have appeared in The Portland Review.

Even though Eliza Frakes wanted to pursue a career in acting, her mother did not want her daughter to do so when she was a teenager.

She gave Your Teen Mag an explanation of her reasoning some time ago, saying,

I allowed her to participate in neighborhood theater and enroll in an excellent acting program. She may perform as a guest for the experience, in my opinion. However, I would never let her star in a TV show.

She continued by saying that a teen who is committed is immediately taken out of their peer group and regular environment.

The Daytime Emmy winner has a very personal reason for worrying about this. She therefore began working at “General Hospital” at the age of 14 on a three-year contract that included 52 weeks of work per year. From that point on, Eliza’s mother missed the rest of her time in high school.

While filming the 1982 miniseries “Bare Essence,” Jonathan Frakes and Genie Francis, the parents of Eliza Frakes, got to know one another. Frakes had stated that she wanted to study filmmaking and storytelling techniques while attending Viewpoint School and introduce documentaries that would inform the public about environmental issues.
